SPECIALIST SCAFFOLDING INSTALLATION
Sid Little Scaffolding recently completed a bespoke access and structural support scaffold at 1 & 2 Marketplace, providing a safe and efficient working platform for an extensive programme of external refurbishment works.
The historic town-centre property required scaffolding that would allow multiple trades to work simultaneously while maintaining safety for pedestrians and neighbouring businesses. The scaffold was designed to give full access to the front elevation for render repairs, replacement of damaged window sills, preservation works to existing timber windows, and complete external repainting. By creating uninterrupted access across all working levels, contractors were able to progress several elements of the project at the same time, helping to reduce overall programme length.

Over 9 tonnes of ballast weights to counter-balance structural issues with the front wall.
Due to the condition of the frontage, the project also required a counterbalanced scaffold section to the front elevation. This specialist arrangement was installed to help stabilise and secure the building façade while remedial structural works were undertaken. The solution avoided the need for intrusive ground-level supports in key access areas and ensured the site could remain operational throughout the works.
Installation was completed in 5 days by a team of 6 scaffolders, with all works carried out in line with current safety regulations and inspection requirements.

This project demonstrates Sid Little Scaffolding’s ability to deliver practical scaffolding solutions for older and more complex town-centre buildings, combining access provision with temporary structural support where required. The flexible approach enabled restoration works to proceed safely, efficiently, and with minimal disruption to the surrounding area.
